The Delicate Balance between Academia and Industry Conducting Joint Research Can Be Difficult to Maintain. the Authors Share Many Lessons Learned from Such an Alliance on a Dataflow

Arvind is the Johnson Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at MIT and headed the Monsoon and StarT teams at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science. Anton Dahbura was director of the Motorola Cambridge Research Center during the collaboration and served as liaison between the researchers at MIT and Motorola and the engineering group at MCG. He has since left the company to head Hub Labels Inc. Alejandro Caro received his doctorate from MIT in 1999 and was a member of both the Monsoon and StarT project teams beginning in 1989. He is presently a research scientist at Akamai Technologies Inc.
